I did what I feel is my obligation: I voted for the future of my country and yours, even though I knew in my heart that my one vote wouldn't change what was already a predictable outcome. I did not watch even 10 seconds of television coverage of the election for the sake of my mental health.
My conclusions about why the outcome was what I expected months ago, and what I'm seeing this morning after last night's election, come from more than just politics. I spent years traveling around the world for work, visiting some of the most beautiful historic places on Earth and some of the most impoverished places imaginable, all ravaged and destroyed at one time or another by socialism and communism.
There are still holes in magnificent, centuries-old buildings in Budapest, Hungary, left by years of attacks and conflict. In El Salvador, there were shotgun-wielding security guards on nearly every corner where there were stores. The violence was so pervasive that I needed armed security simply to go outside the hotel to shoot video. Much the same was true in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I was threatened and ordered to give up my camera or die. My security came running and took the two punks away, never to be seen again..
The contrasts in Peru were equally stark. People were urinating and, yes, shitting in public in plain view, with no one paying any attention. Yet there were also majestic mountains, extraordinary beauty, and friendliness and smiles from the people living there. Cuba was much the same.
So how does any of this relate to the election last night? In my opinion, it comes down to the people, many of whom have become accustomed to the environments in which they live and simply make the best of them without threatening to take from others who have more. They don't spend their days whining and complaining. They seem to devote most of their energy to what matters most: survival.
The children in schools I visited were much like children in classrooms here in America. But there was also an enormous difference I noted. There were no posters or flags promoting lifestyles their cultures reject. Classrooms were places for learning reading skills, English and math, and an unvarnished HISTORY of their people. The agenda was education, and not once did I witness that focus wavering.
In America, where I worked for a dozen years in a large school district, I witnessed firsthand something very different: the teaching of "culture" according to the personal viewpoints of individual teachers. The goal was to teach kids WHAT to think instead of HOW to think..
There is no hiding the fact that I witnessed teachers spending hours indoctrinating kids into groupthink with repeated chants rather than encouraging critical thinking based on their own reasoning, the values taught at home, or their faith. Opposing viewpoints were given absolutely no time or consideration whatsoever.
I've seen this firsthand, and it would turn your stomach. I'm not sitting here the morning after the midterm election wondering how we got to this point or why. I know why.
And I'll say something that will undoubtedly infuriate a great many people: especially in today's culture, I do not believe anyone under the age of 25 should be allowed to vote unless they are serving in the military.
With civics education non-existent today in schools, and with so many young people having neither the historical knowledge nor the life experience to understand how voting can change the direction of the country in which they live, they are not intellectually equipped to cast a vote that can change the direction of America, as happened yesterday.
When your primary source of "news" comes from social media, you have no business voting. TikTok has become today's CNN, and even Fox News. I'm certain the blame game is being tossed around today like a virus, but I'm not consuming any of it. I know what happened, and I know why. I'm not capable of being persuaded by the politically biased interpretations of commentators, whether on this subject or any other.
My president, whom I voted for twice, sabotaged yesterday's election with his mouth. When Donald Trump proudly proclaimed that he wasn't a politician, it was a breath of fresh air. And you could certainly see over time that he wasn't kidding. But the rhetoric grew old and stale. It began eroding support, including mine, for whom I consider the strongest president we've had in decades.
That erosion of support gave way to a level of political anger unlike anything I have witnessed in my lifetime. In business, you can get away with a great deal of abrasive behavior; if you're good at what you do. In politics, however, that same behavior can set you up for a failure so epic that it threatens to evaporate an otherwise magnificent legacy.
The American school system sabotaged yesterday's election by indoctrinating children into a culture outside the traditions and values that made this country and its society the envy of the world.
The Republican Party sabotaged yesterday's election by becoming so fragmented and so incapable of uniting behind Trump's policies that we now have a widely recognized name for members who abandon those principles: RINO. Republican in Name Only.
And the younger generation of voters? You sabotaged yesterday's election by allowing yourselves to be led by social media "influencer-ism," leftist high school teachers, and college professors. You sold your futures and the futures of those you claim to love and support, and now the deed is done.
And I'm not simply talking about the election. I'm talking about its aftermath. America has followed the United Kingdom and France in a radical leftward direction that I believe can no longer be rolled back.
This isn't something that will last a year or two, fail, and then simply disappear as the country recovers. This experiment in socialism and communism will not go away peacefully. History has taught us that. The same history that is no longer being taught in our schools.
You, your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren will be dealing with the consequences of this calamity long after you are gone.
Expect our borders to be opened and a flood of tens, perhaps hundreds, of millions of people from third-world countries seeking to enter America, only to become future democrat voters demanding their share of what you worked a lifetime to build.
Expect the Supreme Court to be packed with enough left-leaning justices to reshape the country for generations, sailing through confirmation "hearings" that become little more than formalities.
Expect taxes to go through the roof to support those invited into the country who have no means of supporting themselves.
And you can figure out on your own what to say to your daughters when they are harassed, assaulted, or raped by people who enter this country with no respect for our laws and no fear of consequences.
There will be no meaningful need for immigration enforcement or border control. Expect law enforcement to be defunded, and the safe streets you may still enjoy to become overrun by anarchy and those who thrive on it.
This wasn't simply a mistake made by voters yesterday. In my view, it was the execution of a plan years in the making. And it will take decades to overcome the damage done by yesterday's vote. If you believe otherwise, you are delusional.
America is now facing what I believe to be the most evil challenge in its 250-year history.
And the worst of it all, we did this to ourselves.
"If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.."
— Abraham Lincoln, 1838
